Support through pregnancy and birth

By offering antenatal visits with yourself and your partner, my goal is to help you explore your options throughout pregnancy and birth, and teach you ways to listen to your body and your baby.

Examples of the subjects we could cover are as follows:

- Your rights and consent in birth, and we'll address previous trauma to help you understand what happened and why

- How to prepare for baby, financially and emotionally

- Myths VS evidenced truth

- Induction options, birth plans and how to cope if things change

- How to prepare for labour, what it might feel like, the physiological processes and how to have complete control throughout

- Pain relief options available to you; the pros and cons, risks and benefits, and natural vs medicated

- What to expect in the early days, both mentally and physically - feeding, pain and bleeding, normal newborn behaviour

- Common antenatal ailments, aches and pains

- The strain that babies, before and after birth, can put on your close relationships and how to overcome this

- I can attend appointments with healthcare professionals to help you advocate your wishes, and to translate the medical jargon

- You'll have my personal phone number to text me any questions or worries, as and when they arise.

- During birth I can capture the moment with photographs or videos

- Nearer the time of your birth I'll be 'on-call' to you 24/7, awaiting a call to tell me labour has started so I can support you throughout.

- I am available to support the pregnancy and births of multiples, surrogacy, miscarriage, disabilities, unexpected stillbirth, and babies that are not compatible with life outside of the womb.

No matter how much support you need, be it just an hour on the phone or for weeks and months, I will never tell you what to do - now or after birth. My information is all evidence-based from unbiased, reliable sources, and presented to you so you can sit with your partner and decide which route suits you the best. My personal experiences and opinions are never, ever factored into this. A nice analogy is to imagine birth like a menu - you'll choose what sounds best given the options presented. But what if I told you there's another menu, you just have to ask for it?
